This is a case of WIIFM(what's in it for me) in practise. Audiences would prefer to be entertained than to hear the facts. This is the best way to deliver facts, make them interesting and engage your audience. Look at Bush's speeches versus Obama's. Who do you think people are more interested in hearing from? The slow talking android who spits out dry facts, or the funny guy who jumps on stage and relates to you with anecdotes from his personal life?
